A New Website for a New Year

It’s 2009 so I figured it was time for a change around here, and not just in looks. I wasn’t very happy with my previous site, being that I built it in a rush and didn’t touch it after the initial launch, so for this version I decided to focus on adaptability. I needed a platform for everything related to eddit, not just a catalog of past projects.

Up until this version I’ve rolled my own CMS but my needs have outgrown my programming skills, so this time around I decided to go with Expression Engine. The learning curve wasn’t that bad but there are definitely some questions I will be posting to the forums in the near future as I fine tune things. Overall I am very pleased with EE. I find it to be a very robust system, but flexible enough to quickly implement customizations.

One major addition, as you can see by reading this post, is a blog-of-sorts that I call the “notebook” (credit goes to SimpleBits for this apt alternative to the term “blog”). For now it will mostly contain project updates so grab the rss if you want to stay posted on new projects as well as product launches, specifically a few iPhone apps that I have in the queue. Plans for the future include a laundry list of articles and tutorials that I’ve wanted to write for some time so we’ll see how things go.

In closing I hope that you enjoy the new site and don’t hesitate to drop me a line.
